A police officer finds an illegal mining farm and tries to steal it

Driven by intelligence information about the location of cryptocurrency mining equipment, a police officer tried to steal it jointly with two other accomplices.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, a police officer was detained in Khakassia while trying to steal $6,000 worth of mining equipment. According to investigators, the accused used intelligence data on the location of the crypto-farm, and on April 16, together with two accomplices, entered the premises and tried to steal the devices for mining.

Just as the theft was taking place, the police officers arrived and arrested their colleague. He was detained and indicted.

Initially, the investigation focused on two Volgograd residents, who, in March 2022, were suspected of offering and accepting bribes when implementing electricity network services. Investigators inspect the version of the electricity stealing for cryptocurrency mining. Moreover, another occurrence of embezzlement and use of inside information was opened.
