Adidas announces a new partnership with Coinbase and the Metaverse Sandbox gaming project
Adidas announced on Twitter its partnership with Coinbase. The world's leader in sportswear manufacturing still hesitates to reveal all the details of this partnership. Still, it is clear that the company made the first step towards the virtual asset industry and new payment tools.
In turn, the Metaverse Sandbox gaming project made a tweet addressed to Adidas, offering to "design their future together."
In the face of such news, The Sandbox native game currency (SAND token) increased in value. Its value jumped after Adidas revealed to subscribers its plans to develop "adiVerse" in collaboration with Metaverse Sandbox. As proof of its strong intentions, Adidas even bought a piece of land at The Sandbox.
While Adidas breaks new ground in the industry of non-interchangeable tokens (NFT), its long-time competitor Nike is trying to keep up too, making grand plans to introduce its sneakers to the metauniverse.
Following years of research and a patent for CryptoKicks in 2019, Nike has been hatching plans to sell digital versions of its products in the meta-universe.
