Bitcoin's biggest critic embarks on a digital dollar creation

American economist Nouriel Roubini, who has been critical of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in recent years, launched the development of a tokenized version of the U.S. dollar.
According to Bloomberg, the project is kept secret. All we know is that Nouriel Roubini is developing some financial products, including the tokenized dollar, working alongside the Dubai-based Atlas Capital Team.
The economist is considered one of the biggest Bitcoin critics. In 2020, the American economist called the cryptocurrency industry “a big scam.” Moreover, he never tires of announcing the cryptocurrency apocalypse every time cryptocurrencies are on a bearish trend.
Recall that the U.S. authorities haven't decided yet about creating a digital version of the dollar but noted that it would take years to develop it. For example, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen doubts that the digital dollar is going to appear any time soon. While U.S. authorities are studying the impact of the digital dollar on monetary policy, national security, and international trade, she said. However, in early March, U.S. President Joe Biden issued an executive order directing various agencies within the federal government to prepare reports on digital currencies and develop appropriate regulations.
