Crypto investors earned more than $160 billion in 2021

That's $130 billion more than in 2020. The biggest income growth was recorded in the U.S., where investors earned nearly $47 billion.
According to analysts from Chainalysis, the top three countries in terms of crypto investment profits are the U.S., U.K., and Germany. Russia ranks 7th with revenues of $4.2 billion, while Ukraine is 13th with $2.7 billion.
The data disaggregated by cryptocurrency appears to be noteworthy. It turned out that ether (ETH) displaced Bitcoin (BTC) in terms of total realized profit worldwide, reducing revenues for Bitcoin alone from $76.3 billion to $74.7 billion. Chainalysis believes that the decrease in dominance may be caused by the higher demand for decentralized finance (DeFi). Recall that most DeFi-protocols are built on the Ethereum blockchain and use ETH as the main currency.
Still, ETH couldn't gain a share of the profits in all countries. For example, Japan got a much higher share of realized profit from BTC - a little less than $4 billion, against $790 million in ETH.
