Dubai to create 40,000 new jobs in the metaverse
The UAE authorities have drawn up a development plan for the blockchain technology industry. The strategy aims to turn the region into a global technology capital.
Emirates New Agency WAM reports that Dubai ruler Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wants to create more than 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030 under the Dubai Metaverse strategy. The strategy aims to attract more than a thousand blockchain companies and features the use of incubators for foreign projects. The strategy also intends to create new operating models for government in tourism, education, retail, telecommuting, health care, and the legal sector.
According to the publication, the strategy is based on such areas as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and digital twins (virtual representation of an object or system). VR and AR already provide 6.7 thousand jobs and bring $500 million to the UAE economy.
In February this year, the United Arab Emirates announced plans to attract more crypto companies to the country by issuing them special licenses. The official position of Abu Dhabi is to provide the most comfortable climate for cryptocurrency enterprises.
