MetaMask wallet will add Bitcoin support
The developers of the app, boasting more than 30 million monthly active users, introduce a new option using the Snaps tool.
As the developers reported on Twitter, the option will be implemented using the Snaps developer tool. Snaps runs in an isolated environment. This allows any user to extend the wallet's capabilities, including adding support for different blockchains or changing their functionality.
Recall that in March 2022, Joseph Lubin, CEO of the ConsenSys development company, said that MetaMask would release its own token. Moreover, the DAO decentralized autonomous organization is expected to be launched in the near future, allowing to finance the project's development. Earlier, ConsenSys announced that it had closed a $450 million D funding round. The project's valuation was $7 billion. In January, the number of active MetaMask users exceeded 30 million per month, with a 42% increase in four months.
