Report: Ethereum is still the most popular among developers, but its competitors are catching up with it

The total number of active developers has grown to 18,000, marking a new all-time high. Most of them work in the Ethereum ecosystem, but its competitors, such as Terra, BSC, Polkadot, NEAR, Solana, and Avalanche, are actively trying to catch up with it.
Electric Capital disclosed that in its report issued on January 5, 2022. According to the data, more than 4 thousand developers are working in Ethereum today, with Polkadot in second place with 1,500 developers. Next comes Cosmos and Solana, with about 1,000 developers each. The Bitcoin network employed only 680 people.

The report speaks separately about the rapid growth of Ethereum's competitors. Over the past 12 months, the activity of Solano network developers increased 4.9 times, NEAR - 4 times, Polygon - 2 times. In the last year, BSC has shown rapid growth by 80%, and Cosmos by 70%.
We should note that such a rapid growth of competitors is related to the development of the decentralized financing sector (De-Fi), where the number of full-time active developers grew by 500 people a month. By the end of the year, the growth was 64%.
